Claudine Santos
President
I’d like to start by thanking the membership for voting me onto this year’s board, and I’d like to thank the board for voting me as the VIEWS 2015-2016 president.
There are many new faces on the board this year and I’m excited to report that with that infusion of new blood has come an infusion of new ideas. I believe that, like all great organizations, VIEWS is organic – it grows and evolves as needed under the guidance of its dedicated members.
Some of the new priorities we’ve identified are:
a) Helping implement regulatory change for the betterment of the visually impaired community;
b) Creating a stronger and larger VIEWS community;
c) Getting increased funding and support for VIEWS programs such as our Music Camp; and
d) Establishing ourselves as a go-to resource for our membership, community members, policy makers, etcetera.
However, I truly believe that these types of decisions should not be solely top-down and we can’t achieve these goals alone.
If you have an idea on a program or service that you think should be offered – we want to hear from you! We also need volunteers to help with various projects. I would love to hear from as many of our VIEWS members as possible and I promise to respond to every email.
This year promises to be an exciting one as we take on new challenges, continue working on our projects, and prepare for our 10th annual Music Camp.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Claudine
